Privacy Policy for Summate — AI Page Summarizer

Data Collection

Summate operates entirely locally in your browser. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers.

What we store locally

All data is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) or sync storage (chrome.storage.sync):

- API configuration: Your API endpoint, model name, and API key (stored only in your browser)
- Summary history: Page summaries you choose to save
- RSS summaries: Auto-generated article summaries from feeds you subscribe to
- Usage count: Number of summaries generated (for daily limit tracking)
- License key: If you purchase a license, the key is stored locally

Network Requests

Summate makes network requests only to:

1. Your configured API endpoint — to generate AI summaries
2. RSS feed URLs you configure — to fetch new articles
3. Notion API (if you enable Notion export) — to save summaries to your Notion workspace
4. License verification server (if you activate a paid license) — to verify your license key

What we do NOT do

- We do NOT track your browsing history
- We do NOT collect analytics or usage statistics
- We do NOT sell or share your data with third parties
- We do NOT use cookies
- We do NOT store your page content on any external server (except the API endpoint you configure)

Data Retention

All data is retained locally until you choose to delete it. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.

Third-Party Services

- AI API Provider: Your chosen API provider (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI) receives page content to generate summaries. Review their privacy policies for how they handle data.
- Notion API: If used, your summaries are sent to your Notion workspace per your instructions.
- Creem: Payment processing is handled by Creem. We do not receive or store payment information.
